"When They See Us"‼️

Of course I had to write about the Central Park Five. Especially with all the attention the Netflix special is getting, this is the perfect opportunity to express my stance. I originally heard about the Central Park Five in 2017 when I was a senior in high school. I was enrolled in a college class with my friends and we watched the documentary and had to write a paper on it. Ava DuVernay (the creator of the Netflix special) did more than a phenomenal job bringing this shameful and unlawful act of racism to the screen. There is no sugar coating this one..... what happened in 1989 was pure racism. Young boys have lost years of their lives they will NEVER get back. Their childhood was completely gone. They never got to become varsity athletes in high school, they had the chance to join clubs, never experienced prom or even was able to graduate high school! 😡 I cried during the third episode the most. I cannot even imagine being locked up for something I didn't do and then get released to a world I have no control over. Released into a world where I have to adjust because so many things have changed. While those boys were incarcerated they aged into men. During their sentences loved ones died or became extremely ill. They lived hell on earth. The special was hard enough to watch, but that was nothing compared to what they actually endured. Everyone is saying Korey Wise had it the hardest. He was the only one out of the five that went straight to an adult prison instead of the juvenile detention center. Of course he had it the worst! Although all of them had it bad in general because of the circumstances. Now they are getting settlements for their years of being in prison. I'm sorry but no amount of money can buy back what happened to those innocent black men. They aged in prison....probably got raped, got into multiple fights, stabbed....anything. Yeah, 12 mil is nice. But, that's it? That's not enough. 🙅🏽‍♀️I need to see someone suffer the way they did. Yes, Linda Fairstein(the former prosecutor of the case) is getting backlash and harassed and her books are getting taken off the shelves in libraries and bookstores. Yes, she got kicked off Vassar College Board of Trustees, I'm sorry "resigned". But what about the other 30 something people that helped her with the case👀. What about the other Officers of the NYPD that were involved with this decision? What about the damn judge? Like I guess one person has to take the fall for everyone. But, no! That's not sufficient enough for me! So imagine how the men feel and their families. Karma is real and after all these years later Fairstein will finally get what is hers. She deserves everything that's coming to her! I wish she would drop some names of the other officers that knew there was no direct evidence linked to these men in any way and still proceeded to prosecute them, incarcerate them and still live their merry life. Just like those men lived hell on earth, It is now her turn. Its hard to say this was God's Plan. I believe everything happens for a reason. But I really do want to know what was the reasoning behind this.. It doesn't make sense. If you have not watched the Netflix special yet, please do so. It is an eye opener to what is still going on today in the 21st century. Always remember slavery was never abolished it is just redesigned.💯 (And the original rapist Matias Reyes, that saw all of this happening on the news, didn't confess and had the nerve to commit more crimes that caused him to be incarcerated within the same year in August deserves his life sentence in jail.) 😁

I’ve knew about this case for a long time during school and I agree with everything your stating it’s a shame that those men had to go through that their lives will never be the same. They will always have that criminal label next to their name and it’s absolutely a shame no one should have to go through that at all. Every single person that was involved need to be put down just like Linda Fairstein💯 RACISM STILL EXIST TODAY IN THE 21st CENTURY OPEN YOUR EYES PEOPLE PAY ATTENTION👀
